my name is stephanie.
i am an artist from suburban philadelphia.
i am primarily a printmaker, but i also take photographs, and dabble in design, book arts, and stop-motion animation.
I use a variety of media to create visual interpretations of small moments and anecdotes from the larger narrative of everyday life. I am inspired by ordinary situations and feelings that people are faced with on a regular basis. Themes of love and longing, loss and coping, deterioration with time, and internal struggle have strong ties to much of the work I do. Often, I utilize the title as an allusion to the larger subject or story. Although the situations that motivate me are very personal, I strive to create work that is open for the audience to fill in with their own narratives and interpretations.
I work reactively and exploit printmaking techniques such as serigraphy and digital transfers, with layers of mixed media (e.g. cyanotype, paint, thread). Bold colors, organic lines, drawn and printed patterns, textural elements, and illustrative qualities are all components that continually appear in my work. I utilize combinations of these elements to often literally represent memories, feelings, or fragments of a story.
